Het evenement in het Italiaanse Lignano,\u00a0het laatste Europese toernooi van deze zomer, was zaterdag heel goed begonnen voor de Hoekenezen. Zij\u00a0wonnen alle drie wedstrijden. De eerste was tegen de Pacific Islanders, een\u00a0team bestaande uit spelers uit Nieuw-Zeeland en enkele kleinere eilanden uit de Stille Oceaan. Vervolgens\u00a0waren The Dutch Lions ook sterker dan\u00a0The Romantics uit Duitsland en\u00a0Les\u00a0Bleus uit Frankrijk.<\/p>\n
De zondagochtend begon met\u00a0een verrassende nederlaag tegen de Pacific Islanders. Maar daarna werd met ruime cijfers gewonnen van de Danube Pirates uit Oostenrijk en werd ook gezegevierd in de tweede wedstrijd tegen The Romantics.<\/p>\n
Rein Mostert van The Dutch Lions werd gedeeld topscorer met tien tries. Aan het toernooi namen twaalf teams uit de hele wereld deel.<\/p>\n
